Description

This item is made to order. Please allow 5–7 business days for processing before shipment.

Each specimen is handcrafted and individually painted to order. Due to the handmade nature of the work, subtle variations in color, pattern, and texture are to be expected and are part of the uniqueness of each piece.

Bold yet velvety in appearance, the Polyphemus Moth is inspired by one of North America’s largest and most striking silk moths, recognized for its warm brown wings and dramatic eye spots said to ward away predators. Handcrafted in metal and individually painted by hand, each sculpture is created to reflect the rich texture and quiet grandeur of the species without the use of real specimens.

Design

Inspired by the Polyphemus Moth native to North America, this piece blends natural history inspiration with heirloom-style craftsmanship and woodland folklore. Its earthy tones and prominent eye spots are intended to evoke the mysterious beauty of these fleeting nocturnal giants.

Handcrafted

Each piece is designed and made entirely by hand in my studio by me, start to finish. This is a true one-woman operation. No assistants, no casting houses, and no mass production.

Every component is cut, formed, soldered, textured, and finished by hand using traditional metalsmithing techniques. Because of this process, no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Subtle variations are not flaws but a natural part of handmade work and a mark of its individuality.

The piece you receive is truly one of a kind.
