This piece is a profound tribute to history, deeply inspired by the legacy of the Vimy Oaks. In April 1917, following the brutal Battle of Vimy Ridge, Canadian soldier Lieutenant Leslie H. Miller gathered acorns from a shattered, half-buried oak tree on the devastated French battlefield. He sent them home to Canada, where they sprouted into a living memorial that bridged two continents. Decades later, saplings from those very trees were repatriated back to France to heal the war-torn landscape. The Living Memorial is an exploration of that profound cycle of renewal, standing as a quiet testament to global unity and the resilient truth that we are all part of one interconnected world.
